PETA Donations Spent to Slaughter Kittens

PETA is using donations given to them under the mistaken belief that the organization will use those donations to save lives to have healthy cats and  kittens poisoned,  instead.  Among the dead are  unweaned neonatal kittens, six week old kittens with no health problems, eight week old kittens, four month old kittens, seven month old juveniles, one year old juveniles, and healthy adult cats.

In 2016, PETA took in 1,069 cats. It put to death 854 of those cats with an overdose of barbiturates. The majority of the others – 184 out of 214 – were taken to local kill shelters by PETA. Those animals were either killed or they displaced others already at the shelter who were then killed, effectively putting the PETA cat kill rate at 99%.

For example, of the 20 cats and kittens PETA took to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS) in Newport News, VA, and which PETA logged as “live releases,” documents obtained through the Public Records Act reveal that all but two  were killed. They were listed as having no illness or injuries. Some of them were killed within minutes. In fact, PRAS has an ongoing “agreement” with PETA: PETA brings them healthy community cats and kittens and the pound kills them.

And more…

These cats and kittens had their whole lives ahead of them; lives that were cruelly stolen by PETA. These are cats and kittens that PETA is claiming as “live releases.” They are community cats who are entitled to a legally mandated five day holding period but many who are being killed within 24 hours, some within minutes. They are cats who are in good health. Instead, PETA turned them in to PRAS and the PRAS staff plunged a needle full of barbiturates  into them, exactly what PETA knew and wanted to happen to them.

And that’s not all PETA did in 2016 to harm cats. PETA also worked to encourage others to kill animals, too. Last summer in Seaside Heights, NJ, they asked the Mayor to evict cats living on the beach, arguing that they “would be better off with a lethal injection.” They also told Camden County officials earlier this year  that cats smell, they are a nuisance, make too much noise, are a public health and rabies threat, transmit disease and parasites, including “roundworms, hookworms, and even plague,” and “terrorize and kill” 15 billion other animals a year, urging them to round up and kill cats, too.

When you donate to PETA,  you pay to round up and poison  kittens.
