Ingrid Newkirk Responds… Sort Of

In response to my criticism of PETA for: Killing 9 out of 10 animals; Supporting the killing of all pit bulls in every shelter in America; Thanking a Mayor/City Council for killing healthy and friendly dogs because of the way they look; Rounding up and killing animals in the back of a van after promising to find them homes; Stealing Maya, a happy and healthy dog and killing her; Calling for the round up and…

The Butcher of Norfolk

The blog I write is about reforming animal sheltering in the United States. It is about ending the systematic killing of animals in these pounds. But this particular blog isn’t about sheltering. This isn’t about the battle between the No Kill philosophy and its eventual conquest over regressive, kill-oriented approaches. This is about something more nefarious. This is about Ingrid Newkirk. This is about an animal killing, arrogant, disturbed person. And enough is enough.

Newsweek: PETA has killed “tens of thousands of animals”

Unfortunately, the magazine accepted their excuse, overlooking the real reasons why Newsweek has a recurring feature they call “Fact Check” in which they evaluate various claims circulating on social media, ostensibly to determine whether those claims are true. The magazine recently evaluated the claim that PETA kills thousands of animals every year. There is no denying that PETA has killed over 40,000 animals. Those records come from PETA itself which it is required to report…

The Killing of Maya

Today is the anniversary of PETA’s killing of Maya. On October 18, 2014, two PETA representatives backed their van up to a home in Parksley, VA, and threw biscuits to Maya, who was sitting on her porch. They were hoping to coax her off her property and give PETA the ability to claim she was a stray dog “at large” whom they could therefore legally impound. Maya refused to stay off the property and after…

Ching, Baldwin & The Cult of Personality

Back in May, the Los Angeles Times published an expose that Marc Ching, a well-known and until then beloved “animal activist” allegedly fighting cruelty in the Indonesian dog meat industry, was a fraud. It provided evidence that Ching, who spent nearly a decade in prison for a violent crime before joining the movement, staged videos of dogs being killed, including blowtorched alive, for personal gain. Recently, the L.A. Times published a follow-up with evidence that…

L.A. Times: Animal charity run by con staged abuse of dogs

(Warning: Graphic description of a dog being killed.) There are things you see that you cannot unsee. The video of a dog being hanged and burned alive in Indonesia, appeared multiple times on my Twitter feed some time back. Because of it, I stopped looking at my feed. I haven’t since. I go on to Twitter via my profile page to post. Although it’s been years since I saw it, I still think about it…

PETA Advocates for Continued Killing of “Pit Bulls” in Ontario

PETA has written members of the Ontario, Canada, legislature to tell them NOT to consider relaxing what they called “commonsense restrictions on pit bull in Ontario,” saying “These breeds should be regulated in the same way in which other dangerous species, like leopards, are regulated.” What are these restrictions and regulations? Ontario has banned dogs identified as “pit bulls” and exterminated thousands of dogs and puppies for how they look. And sometimes, these former…

Protesting for an Identity

Last week, in a PETA-style bid to get media attention, a  member of a group called Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) stormed the stage where Vice-President Joe Biden was giving a speech after his Super Tuesday victories in the Democratic primaries, carrying a sign that said “Let Dairy Die.” DxE got their media coverage. But did the incident help cows? A new study out of Stanford University and the University of Toronto says No. In fact,…

A Complete and Utter Rout as PETA’s Lawsuit Collapses

For the past several days, I have been posting stories of our movement’s success, including groundbreaking accomplishments in 2019 and groundbreaking developments for the year to come. Here’s even more good news, not just for animals, but for myself and other people who have worked to expose the grisly truth about PETA and the thousands of healthy animals they kill every year. Maya was taken from her home and illegally killed by PETA representatives.…
